Integration

The use of information and communication technology (ICT) systems is an integral part of running a business today. In most cases it involves the use of separate systems which have to be able to communicate with each other. This part of ICT, establishing effective and efficient platforms for communication, is referred to as Integration & Messaging (I&M).

In recent years, Integration & Messaging has played a significant role in connecting many of a company’s disparate ICT systems and also in facilitating a company’s ability to communicate with third parties for specific processes and procedures. This has been the way forward in terms of establishing cost-effective and efficient business processes, not only shortening the lead time required to receive information, but also improving the accuracy and quality of the information received.
Processes are a key component in the evolution of software systems. As I&M systems develop and other software system development processes facilitate I&M options, the role of I&M systems will only become more important. Looking forward, one can foresee system integration occupying the role of the main nerve centre and brain of an advanced software solution system. Let us look more closely at each component of I&M.
